Afghan Community Development Organization (ACDO)

The Afghan Community Development Organization (ACDO) is a professionally managed, non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit development-oriented organization committed to serving Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations. Established in 2012, ACDO was created to address the dire needs of Afghan refugees and internally displaced families.

ACDO has a long-standing history of delivering impactful humanitarian and development services across Afghanistan. Over the years, it has built a solid reputation as a reliable partner for international organizations, including the World Food Program (WFP), UNHCR, UNICEF, UNOPS, FAO, Canada Fund, CARE, and Italian Cooperation.

Our Reach

With extensive experience across multiple provinces, ACDO has implemented projects in Kabul, Nangarhar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Kapisa, Kandahar, Parwan, and Wardak.

Collaborations and Partnerships

ACDO works in alignment with government priorities and maintains strong partnerships with various ministries, including:

  • State Ministry of Agriculture
  • Ministry of Education
  • Ministry of Refugees and Returnees (MORR)
  • Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA)

Additionally, ACDO actively collaborates with community elders, national and international NGOs, and global humanitarian organizations such as ACBAR, ANCB, and UNOCHA to achieve its goals.

Our Goals

  • To participate actively in peacebuilding, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and development efforts in Afghanistan.
  • To advocate for the rights of Afghan women and children, particularly in combating violence and promoting gender equality.
  • To promote sustainable community development by providing:
    • Capacity-building support.
    • Technical, vocational, and financial assistance to local organizations.
    • Civil society-building initiatives and conflict resolution programs.
  • To empower Afghan women entrepreneurs through advanced business training, reducing poverty and fostering emerging opportunities.

Key Activities

  • Providing emergency relief, including first aid, food, clothing, shelter, and medicines for vulnerable populations, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
  • Expanding agricultural and husbandry programs to strengthen Afghanistan’s economic foundation.
  • Offering literacy courses, developing educational curricula, and creating employment opportunities.
  • Supporting rural populations by restoring traditional skills and promoting handcraft production for economic self-sufficiency.
